In 2014, AuRico continued to deliver on our commitment to operational excellence and shareholder value creation and reported another year of growing production and declining costs at our cornerstone Young-Davidson mine and stable performance from our El Chanate mine. In 2014, Company-wide production increased by 39% over the prior year to 224,032 gold ounces, at cash costs of $779 per gold ounce.
During the year, the Young-Davidson team remained focused on driving operational and cost efficiencies throughout the operation and their success is evidenced in the results reported from this high quality operation. In 2014, Young-Davison reported production at the high end of the guidance range at underground cash costs at the mid-range of guidance.
The fourth quarter of 2014 marked the eleventh consecutive quarter of record gold production at Young-Davidson as well as the operation’s transition to positive net free cash flow status with the operation reporting an impressive $9 million in net free cash flow. The transition to positive net free cash flow at only the mid-point of Young-Davidson’s ramp-up underpins our confidence that even in the current gold price environment the Young-Davidson mine will continue to generate a positive free cash flow stream going forward.
